The use of abbreviations is useful in spoken English as it allows people to be able to refer to commonly used terms quicker. A typical example with a shortened word is - you shouldn't have gone there. These shortened words dominate spoken English and so you should practice saying them in a sentence.

Fluency is generally associated to how you can speak the language in relation to others. As a result, although using two words is correct, you should combine them into one word as these are predominantly used.

Examples include:
Wasn't
Couldn't
Shouldn't
Hasn't
Hadn't
Isn't
Should've
Could've
Would've

Can you give any examples which aren't stated above?

Abbreviations for the months January (Jan.), February (Feb.), March (Mar.), April (Apr.), August (Aug.), September (Sept.), October (Oct.), November (Nov.) and December (Dec). The months that are not abbreviated are May, June, and July because they have four or fewer letters.
